Lady Captain

Elly Symonds Lady Captain 2026

Hello and a very warm welcome to the Ladies Section.

As currrent Lady Captain at URVGC, I would like to outline what our sections objective is for the coming year and hopefully entice you to join in with our. activities.

If you are interested in joining, regardless of your golfing prowess, you will warmly welcomed by all the Ladies who are currently participating. Our aim is to have a happy social time as well as improving our golf whilst keeping fit.

We are looking forward to some interesting competitions this year, some of which are mixed competitions with our male members of the club, these competitions especially the in house ones with the vets, plus others like St Patricks & St Andrews day are eagerly entered into by all the ladies. Other competitions rated amongst the ladies are the singles, double and mixed knockouts which are great fun.

We do have away days to other golf clubs to play in their competitions which can lead to making new friends whilst playing different courses. We also have a Ladies Penfold team where (6 volunteers from each club) are selected to play in a match with other clubs as part of an annual league. The URVGC ladies won the finals day event last year against other clubs, including 2 nearest the pins and the longest drive which we are very proud of  ,

Our charity for this year is to raise finds for Macmillan Charity, this is a joint effort this year with the main club captain.

Please get in contact if you have any interest and either myself or one of the l other lady members would be delighted to have a short of a long game with you to see if this the club for you. You wont be disappointed and may find a fulfilling new interest in your life as well as making new friends.

Best wishes,
Elly Symonds
